If your dryer does not work, the problem may be associated with power outlet, door switch, thermal fuse or wiring. If you follow the following steps, we think that you will be able to identify the cause of the problem and probably fix it.

  1. 1Repair your dryer free: Find if you have warranty for your dryer. If you bought your dryer within one year, it is most likely that you have warranty. Most appliance manufacturers provide one year free warranty. If you have warranty, call the company and get your dryer fixed. If you do not have warranty and do not want to spend too much money, you will have to spend some time to identify and possibly fix the problem. The steps below will guide you through the process of identifying and fixing the problem.
  2. 2Power outlet: Check if the wall power electric outlet (where you connect the power cord of your appliance) is working or not. You can find detailed instructions how to check the power source in the article titled How to Test an Electric Outlet. If the power source is good, then you definitely have issues with your appliance and you need to identify it.
  3. 3Door switch: In order for the dryer to work properly, the door switch must work. The door switch is inside the dryer near the door. In most dryers, you will have to open the frame that holds the door to reach the door switch. Refer to the User Guide to locate the door switch. Check the switch and replace it if it is defective. Now, check if your dryer is working or not. If it does not work, call an experienced appliance repair technician.
  4. 4 Thermal fuse:Thermal fuse is a safety device which blows when the dryer is overheated. It is normally located to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel of the dryer. When this fuse blows, the dryer will stop heating or will not work at all. Call a qualified appliance repair technician to replace the thermal fuse.
