If your range does not work, experience tells us that the problem will be associated to the electricity flow to the range. You need to check if power is coming from the control panel to the range terminal block, if the terminal is functional, and finally if the power is reaching the range components (heating elements, baking element, broil element, etc). If you follow the following steps, we think that you will be able to identify the cause of the problem and probably fix it.

  1. 1Repair your range or oven free: Find if you have warranty for your range. If you bought your range within one year, it is most likely that you have warranty. Most appliance manufacturers provide one year free warranty. If you have warranty, call the company and get your range fixed. If you do not have warranty and do not want to spend too much money, you will have to spend some time to identify and possibly fix the problem. The steps below will guide you through the process of identifying and fixing the problem.
  2. 2Power to range: The first thing you need to check is the power source. If the range is not getting electricity, it will not work. Some ranges are wired directly to the power source; they do not use wall plugs. Other types of ranges use wall plugs. Go to the main electrical circuit panel in your house and turn the fuse switch for the dishwasher OFF and ON several times. Be sure that the control panel switch is ON position at the end. This may re-establish electricity flow to the range if the circuit breaker was tripped. Now, try to use the range. If it works, you are done. If not, move to the next step.
  3. 3 Power cord: If the power cord broke or burned at any place, there will be no power flow to the range. Testing power cord is relatively easy. If the power cord is bad, replace the power cord. If this does not resolve the issue, move to the next step.
  4. 4 Terminal block: You can think of the terminal block as the power house for the range. Electricity has to pass through the terminal block before it can reach any of the components in the range. The power cord from the house electrical wiring is attached to the terminal block. Also, all the wirings for the range components start at the terminal block. If testing terminal block indicates that it is bad, you need to replace the terminal block. Call a qualified repair technician if the problem persists.
