If you see water outside of your refrigerator, it must be coming from a source outside of your refrigerator (provided the door seal is working correctly). The water line that supplies water to the refrigerator, the drain tube that carries defrost water to the drain pan and the drain pan itself may be the source of water outside of your refrigerator. If you follow the following steps, we think that you will be able to find the cause of the problem and fix it.

  1. 1 Repair your refrigerator free: Find if you have warranty for your refrigerator. If you bought your refrigerator within one year, it is most likely that you have warranty. Most appliance manufacturers provide one year free warranty. If you have warranty, call the company and get your refrigerator fixed. If you do not have warranty and do not want to spend too much money, you will have to spend some time to identify and possibly fix the problem. The steps below will guide you through the process of identifying and fixing the problem.
  2. 2 Water supply line: Unplug the refrigerator from its power supply line. Check the water supply line that supplies water to the refrigerator. If there is any leak, replace the water supply line. If there is no leak in the water supply line, follow the next steps.
  3. 3 Drain pan: When the refrigerator goes into defrost cycle, the frost and ice melt into water. This water drains through the defrost pipe and accumulates in the defrost pan. The defrost pan is normally located at the back or under the refrigerator. The refrigerator generates heat during its operation; this heat is used to evaporate the water from the drain pan. Check the drain pan for hole or leakage. If you find leakage or hole, replace the drain pan with a new one.
  4. 4 Drain pipe or tube: Check the visible part of the drain pipe for leakage. If you see any leakage in the drain pipe, the drain pipe needs to be replaced. Buy a new drain tube from the appliance parts store and install it in the refrigerator. If you need help, call a qualified appliance repair technician to replace the drain pipe.
