If the light inside the refrigerator does not turn on, you may have a very easy or a hard problem at your hand. If you follow the steps presented below, we think that you will be able to find the cause of the problem and fix it with no to very low amount of money. We assume that other components in your appliance are working correctly.

  1. 1Check if the bulb is burned out: Unplug the refrigerator from its power source. Unscrew the bulb from its holder. Test this bulb by using a table lamp or connecting it to another working bulb holder. If the bulb does not light up, then replace the bulb with another 40 watt appliance bulb. If the bulb is good, then read the following steps.
  2. 2 Check if bulb was loose in the refrigerator: Insert and screw the good appliance bulb in its holder and secure it tightly. If the bulb did not light up due to the looseness, the bulb should light up now. If this does not resolve your issue, follow the next instructions.
  3. 3 You already checked the bulb to find if it is burned out. Also, you tested the lighting system by using a good bulb and securing it tightly it its holder. The next components that may be defective are the door switch and the electric circuit.
  4. 4Repair your refrigerator free: Find if you have warranty for your refrigerator. If you bought your refrigerator within one year, it is most likely that you have warranty. Most appliance manufacturers provide one year free warranty. If you have warranty, call the company and get your refrigerator fixed.
  5. 3 If you do not have warranty, call a qualified technician to test and fix the door switch or the electrical circuit.
